First Day of School

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Well, today was our first official day of school. We are going to start out light this week and then into our full routine next week. Once again, I am very thankful to be able to homeschool. Last night, Billy and I discussed our reasons for homeschooling and then this morning I shared those reasons with the kids before we started our day.

Here are two of the verses that we read:

Ps 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
(KJV)

Prov 22:6
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
(KJV)

We want our children to receive Godly counsel and instruction. We love that we can talk about, discuss, bring up God's Word all through the day. We want them to be like the tree with deep, deep roots when the winds blow. We also love our children more than any other person would ever love them. We want to be the ones to teach, encourage, and shape their lives. Thank you Lord for this opportunity!

Check out Hannah's blog for -- "You know you are a homeschooler if..." for a good laugh!

Tomorrow, I will list what curriculum we are using this year.
