Summer Time is Here

Well Summer time is here. It is hot here in Chattanooga and we need some rain very badly! But, in spite of the heat we are enjoying summertime! It has been amazing to me how much time I seem to have since we have been finished with school. When we are doing school, I really don't realize how much time it takes since it is just a way of life for us. But now that we are finished for the summer, I am realizing that I have some time for extra things. This is the time of year that I do some extra "summer" (instead of spring) cleaning and organizing. I also enjoy doing some extra reading and Bible study while I have extra time. I am studying the attributes of a servant according to scripture. The idea of servanthood is so far from what society teaches and what our own flesh desires. The girls and I are studying Prov. 31 together and I am doing a "hero" study with Will (thanks mom for the idea). Right now, we are studying David. I am also continuing Will's reading curriculum through the summer. He is a little behind in reading so I didn't want him to take the whole summer off from reading. The girls also have to read each day.

We are enjoying going to the pool some days and hanging out together on the porch in the evening. Saturday evening we had a cookout with some family and friends. We had a great time of fellowship and fun. Most everyone (the kids and the "big" kids) played baseball in the back yard after dinner. For those who know our house know the back yard is not flat -- so they played hillside baseball. They had a great time. I enjoyed watching Emma and Macy so their mom and dad could play. But, I realized I'm not used to watching a two year old :-). She is fast, but so cute!
